Cape Coral lobbies for water quality, other issues in Tallahassee
By Frank Bumb
Representatives from Cape Coral's government and private sector met with state elected officials and department heads on Wednesday. Hot button issues like water quality, economic incentives and home rule were all on tap.
One issue that came up repeatedly was the city's request for $2.5 million to acquire about 1,000 acres in Northeast Cape Coral for a reservoir. The reservoir would store water from the area's wet season and then use it to provide water during the dry season. As the city goes through an historic drought, the issue of water was a top priority.
