Michelle Graham announces for House seat
Michelle Graham, a business owner from North Fort Myers, is the first to announce her candidacy for the Florida House District 79 seat, currently occupied by Rep. Matt Caldwell, R-North Fort Myers, who terms out next year.
Graham, a Republican, is owner and president of Siesta Pebble, which launched in 1995 and focuses on residential and commercial swimming pools.
"I have been blessed to be able to raise my two sons here in North Fort Myers and own a business that services all of Southwest Florida," Graham said in a news release. "Now, it's time for me to give back to the community that has been so good to my family. I will be a passionate defender of our conservative values and work every day to protect our individual liberties. My campaign will be based on representing you and fighting to protect the community."
District 79 includes North Fort Myers, Alva, Buckingham, Lehigh Acres, Fort Myers Shores and Olga.
Graham says she will be on a listening tour in the areas she could represent over the next several months. "I want to do what is best for them," Graham said. "I am new. I am learning."
She knows a key issue for residents in her district will be water quality and she wants to hear their concerns and learn from the experts. "I have lived her for 21 years and I know it is a hot topic, an ongoing topic," she said.
The primary and general elections are in 2018. House terms are for two years.
Graham's campaign kickoff event will be March 21 at the home of Christin and David Collins.
