In April, just before we left for the summer, I attended our  Oak Park
Owners meeting, followed by a presentation by Randy Heintz and Tom  Gunderson
(spelling - see below for contact info)*

These men proposed a 79-acre new housing Estate project on the
Caloosahatchee, adjacent to Oak Park Village, Alva, and requiring access  through our
private road.  They wanted to build 58 new houses all on  well and septic,
some waterfront, plus boat ramp, docks and fishing  pier.  They said they also
planned to build a new bridge and  roads off of River Road 78 to give them
private access.

I say NO.  Please feel free to pass this on, send your own  comments before
July 16th or attend the hearing in person - Wish I could be  there!

Here's my response to Lee County App for Request for Continuance  forwarded
to us in May:

RE:  Please deny Continuance for Riverwood Estates Project, App #
VAR2008-00059 & SEZ2008-00028
New Hearing Date July 16, 2009, applied for by Randy Heintz, 5771

Dear Diana:

I was astonished to learn of this proposed project just prior to leaving
for the summer.  To have this hearing when most of the residents of Oak  Park
are not here to protest is unfair.

I am involved with several local groups, notably Caloosa Riverwatch, Lee
County Sierra Club, Save It Now Glades, Alva Inc, Audubon, E-PEC,
Happehatchee  Center, FGCU, Earth Charter and Mother of God House of Prayer (maybe that
is  what is needed most to restore sanity to our local building  plans!)
I have worked very hard to preserve the environment   around our home in
Lee, Hendry, Glades, Collier Counties and working with  Florida legislators.

At this time, with many vacant homes going to mold in Lehigh Acres, the
economy and the environmental crises we all face here in SW FL, it makes no
sense to me to further consider this proposal.

Therefore, we ask you to please, make NO SPECIAL EXCEPTIONS and deny
continuance for Riverwood Estates.

This project is unsustainable,  undesirable, would be a drain on the
neighborhood and the environment adding roads, traffic and a bridge,  58  wells
and septics, further damaging the Caloosahatchee River environment, its
fish, adjacent wetlands and wildlife.

As owners in Oak Park who will be impacted by your decision, my husband
and I, most (if not all), of our neighbors, family and friends, Lee County
group members and those in surrounding Counties, ask you to reject this
proposed project.

Sincerely,

Deb and Arne Arnason
