Caloosahatchee Riverwatch Recruiting Volunteers

Caloosahatchee Riverwatch is seeking volunteers to assist with monitoring waters in Estero Bay, Pine Island Sound, Matlacha Pass, Charlotte Harbor, the Caloosahatchee River, and Lake Okeechobee. There will be a volunteer recruitment meeting from 9:00 to 10:30 on November 19, 2016 at the Fort Myers Regional Library at 2450 First St. Fort Myers, Room AB in the South Building.

Volunteers will become part of a regional network of on-the-water observers coordinated through the Waterkeeper Alliance Affiliate. Each volunteer will be tasked with getting to know the people, businesses, and waters of their assigned areas. Volunteers learn about water regulations and will be trained to monitor various water quality parameters, identify illicit discharges, report fish kills and algae blooms and map important observations of water conditions. These activities will contribute to a quick response, regional network aimed at protecting the waters of southwest Florida.

Join us November 19 to learn more about the program and maybe volunteer. Call John at 239-633-7274 or email at to RSVP or for additional information. You can learn more about Riverwatch and the new Waterkeeper Affiliate program at
