On Tuesday June 16th, 2009 a 24’ Endeavour Electric Hybrid will set off for a seven day cruise departing from The Electric Marina Boat Rental at The Pier, St. Petersburg, FL on route to the Atlantic Ocean. The 250 mile journey will travel through Tampa Bay, Sarasota Bay, Charlotte Harbor, the Intercostal Waterway to Ft. Myers, across the state via the Caloosahatchee and Lake Okeechobee to Stuart, FL using less than $2 per day of electricity.
Proceeds from Endeavour Green’s eco-friendly voyage will be donated to
What About Blue www.whataboutblue.org a non-profit organization aimed at bringing attention to the Global Water Crisis on a local, national, and international level. Money raised will go to charities working on water issues, locally and nationally preserving and restoring waterways, and internationally to help build wells for those without access to clean water.
This boat will not be altered nor enhanced to make this voyage; it’s a standard factory built vessel with a 13 hp D&D 48 volt DC motor, equipped with sixteen Trojan 105 lead acid batteries, two 25 amp onboard battery chargers and a 3.5 kw diesel MasterVolt generator. The vessel is also equipped with a private head and holding tank, freshwater sink and shower, refrigerator, full Eisenglass enclosure and a 16,000 BTU air conditioner. Cruising speed will be 5 mph with an estimated battery run of 8 to 10 hours without the use of the generator.
“Economical, low maintenance, safety and eco-friendly are what today’s boaters desire, so we also mixed-in…comfort, convenience, and peace and quiet”.
