Ellen Peterson going-away celebrations

Ellen
wanted two going away celebrations to be held: one at her Happehatchee Center in Estero and one at
Fisheating Creek in Palmdale.
The celebration to be held at Fisheating
Creek in Palmdale will take place on Sunday,
November 13, 2011 at 1:00 in the afternoon at
the Fisheating Creek Outpost. As a part of the
celebration, in accordance with Ellen’s wishes, we will paddle a short distance
down
Fisheating Creek to the huge bald cypress known as
the Memorial Tree. Canoes, kayaks, and a few john boats will be available to
use, but please bring your own if you can. Please contact Paula House if you
need any additional information at: PaulaToo@Gmail.com
The Happehatchee
celebration will be held on Saturday,
December 3, 2011 beginning at 3:00 in the afternoon at
the Happehatchee Center, 8791 Corkscrew Road, Estero.
Plan to stay into the evening for food, frivolity, and friendship. In Ellen’s
own words this will be “a final bash (that’s a funeral) …inviting any of my
former Edison students, NOW partners, environmental activist cohorts, civil
justice co-workers, marchers for the Immokalee tomato pickers, Fisheating Creek lovers, coal plant eliminators, and
Everglades defenders…”. If you would like to lend a hand to help with this
celebration or if you need any additional information, please contact Ann Smith
